Yes, I think I have paid about $180 for sperry's over the last year ($125 for the sperry chukkas from j. Crew, and 60 for a pair of topsiders from zappos). I guess the only benefit it that I have 2 different styles by going with the Sperry's, but I live over the border in Minnesota and can really appreciate the american worksmanship of brands like red wing, duluth pack, etc.

They'll definitely be front of mind when my sperry's give in.

Thanks for reading and commenting! It's always great to get a discussion going. The slip ons are definitely slick looking, and if you were looking for mocs to go with shorts I would go with them over the 4 lace model. $172 is steep, but you have to consider what you're getting. American made by hand, and great lifecycle cost, these can be resoled, and will last a long long time. I would hedge my bets they'd outlast two pair of Sperry's with ease, that's almost the same dollar cost… Keep reading and tell your friends!

These look awesome! It seems the shoe of choice these days is the Sperry Topsider. What better way of keeping up with the trend and putting your own special touch than with these. Wisconsin is the home of Allen Edmunds too so they definitely know how to make shoes up there. Great job, Jon.
