The budding director in you just got a leg up with Apple’s update to Final Cut Studio. It doesn’t come with a “Make My Home Movie Look Like Instant Ocean’s 11″ plug-in, but it does come packed with new features (100 of them) including iChat Theater for real-time collaboration. In the suite you’ll find Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, Soundtrack Pro 3, Color 1.5, Compressor 3.5, and DVD Studio Pro 4, and Microsoft Excel (err… not).

Final Cut Studio is also $300 less than the previous version making it a lot easier on the wallet and money towards a new rig. You current Scorsese wannabe’s with a current copy of Final Cut Studio can pick up the upgrade for just $299. Gear Patrol slices and dices most of our videos in Final Cut Express and iMovie, but maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

Cost: $999 ($299 upgrade)
