They also make headphones. Nice ones, at that.

So, Gear Patrol secured ourselves a pair to review and we’re happy to report that what you may or (may not) have heard is true, Nixon Headphones not only look great, but sound fantastic, too. The Nixon Nomadic Headphones come in three variations: standard over-the-ear headphones, over-the-ear headphones with a mic, and iPhone compatible (mic and button control to make/receive calls, control music) pictured right.

First, the Nixon Nomadic Headphones look just as good as they do in the image. The patent pending ball and socket design provides an unlimited range fit by swiveling any direction - perfect for this author’s headphone-band-stretching cranium (the hinge also folds for compact storage, or in the included hard case). Nixon has brought their trademark design touch to the Nomadics, with an understated, distinctively machismo design.

The Nixon Nomadic’s are headphones and they certainly perform. A 40mm dynamic driver (the original iPod headphones are a measly 10mm) have a tremendous frequency range with only a slight gap on the bottom end. Lengthy jam sessions (a la High Fidelity style) are non-fatiguing thanks to the memory foam ear cushions, 8.8 oz weight, and comfy faux leather pads. Hat trick: you’ll never fish for the volume control, its the entire casing on the right headphone.
