10 Best PS3 Games (Late 2009)
Gear Patrol Details the Cream of the Playstation 3 Crop
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
More Racing, Less Pavement

Pushing the tach further towards redline, Pacific Rift is a great follow-up to the earlier PS3 title Motorstorm. This go round, monster trucks join ATVs, buggies, rally cars and more in racing through destructible jungle environments. Yes, it’s every bit as fun as it sounds. 16 tracks feature prominently as well as multiplayer action.

Resistance 2
What Could Be Better Than Resistance? The Sequel.

It’s a classic story of boy meets alien, really. Then, like in the original FPS smash, Resistance, the Chimera ass-kicking begins. In addition to a great campaign, Resistance 2 features additional coop campaign action, as well as arguably the best multiplayer experience on the PS3. Resistance 2 was released on the same day as Gears of War 2 and for good reason, it’s a marquee title for Sony’s console.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
The Second Coming of Lara Croft, Only Less Curvy
Bringing to bear both third-person action and platforming elements, Uncharted conjures fond memories of great games gone by. However, it really stands on its own merits thanks to lush graphical environments, gun and melee battles, and an engrossing storyline. While not particularly innovative, Drake’s Fortune doesn’t stumble and is just plain fun. We’re definitely looking forward to the soon to be released sequel.
Cost: $30
Burnout Paradise
…Where the Grass is Green and the Girls are Pretty

As long-time fans of the Burnout series, we weren’t sure that it could get any better than Burnout Revenge. We were wrong. Paradise (the 7th in the long-running series) is the definitive crash racer. Well-maintained by EA Games since its release, the game now includes motorcycles, Police units, and myriad new gameplay types. Still, at the core, Burnout Paradise is an absolute white-knuckle experience, translating speed into a video game like nothing else.
Cost: $20
Echochrome
A Challenging Puzzler That Forces You To Keep Your Wits, And Your Perspective

We conclude with a nod to a PSN title, the worthy download Echochrome. Fans of puzzlers will delight in this perspective-twisting exercise that forces you to negotiate Escherian labyrinths. Classical strings accompany the gameplay, offering the feeling that you are truly brilliant and sophisticated.
Cost: $10 (PSN)
