requiem-for-a-dream-blu-rayIn the category of “deep and intense” movies, Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem For A Dream needs no introduction. For anyone who’s been around the world of drugs or drug addicts, Requiem will haunt you as much as it will entertain. Of course, Clint Mansell’s infamous soundtrack doesn’t hurt either.

Based on Hubert Selby Jr’s book Requiem For A Dream is a surreal trip into the notion that we spend an inordinate amount of time in a state of dreams and accordingly time and perspectives are skewed. Problem is, the characters of the movie are unable to fulfill their own dreams because of addiction to drugs. Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Ellen Burstyn are at their finest.

Today Requiem For A Dream has been released on Blu-ray. A format befitting of the movie’s protracted and consuming visuals. You can also pick it up for just $10, a perfect addition to the high-def collection.

Cost: $10

Did You Know?: Interestingly, Darren Aronofsky, will be bringing us a remake of the Robocop franchise. We continue to hope that he’ll bring it… prime directive style.
