About: I joined Gear Patrol because I love searching for gear in my free time, and I felt the need to pass on my knowledge. As an avid reader of everything online, my bookmark list is about as bloated as George Costanza’s wallet; needless to say, my tastes are eclectic. So, readers, prepare yourselves for variety.
That said, I know that you work hard for your disposable income, so if I recommend something you can be sure I’ve done the research to know that it’s worth your while.
Outside of the gear, I am a born and bred New Englander who recently completed a 2 year stint below the Mason-Dixon Line, and I’m glad to have the Sox and Pats on local programming again (Please refrain from any TB Rays or NY Giants jokes). I’m also a Social Media dork so feel free to hit me up on Twitter @jongaffney.
I graduated not too long ago with a BS in Marketing and, according to my friends, an MS in the History Channel. As a collegiate athlete, my interest and passion for sports and fitness has carried with me. I’m always up for an adrenaline fix whether it’s from the gym, from skydiving, or from an intense game of ultimate.
That’s me in a nutshell, and if any one has suggestions, comments, disagreements, or something you think I should review just shoot me an email. Slainte!See Authors Posts (61) on Fri, Sep 11, 2009 | Email To A Friend

The Bottle Cap Wrench by Craftsman is manliness incarnate. Drop forged in the same USA factories as Craftsman tools it carries the same unconditional guarantee as it’s brethren: If any Craftsman hand tool ever fails to provide complete satisfaction, Return it to any Sears store or other Craftsman outlet in the United States for free repair or replacement.
After some thorough Gear Patrol style testing (refer to pics) we’d be shocked if you ever need to take advantage of the warantee, but impressive none the less. From a functional standpoint the Bottle Cap Wrench features patent pending fulcrum design, for both “lift up or push down removal”. With either method it elicited “wooowwws” and “where do I get one?” from everyone who tried it. Bottle caps were surrendering to the Cap Wrench quicker than the French to…well anyone and everyone.
Admittedly bottle openers are simple beast, but this is the best one we’ve ever tried. It’s a necessary addition for any beer man. The solid heft should also allow you to fend off any party crashers with ease.
Author’s Note: Sears offers the Bottle Cap Wrench with engraving. We suggest this as an excellent groomsman gift or Xmas gift for your buddies.
Cost: $15

Awesome you just reviewed this today…because I bought one last night! I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but look forward to many, many bottle openings with it! I especially love the heft of it - I couldn't resist, as soon as I picked it up, I knew I had to have it.
