If you drink tap water, I hope you have heard about the many recent problems associated with municipal water. As a general rule, the water that comes from the tap might or might not be safe for us. The water always has chlorine, and in some cases, is quite large amounts and in many cases is not safe water to drink.

I've tried the SteriPen that a friend brought on a backpacking trip this summer. Nice idea but I didn't like the complication of having to pre-filter water before sterilizing it, in order to get any particles or sediment out. Also, I'm not a big fan of relying on batteries in the outdoors especially when it comes to something as vital as drinking water. I'll stick to my old simple First Need pump purifier. The SteriPen might be better suited for urban ventures, where other options and batteries are available.
