About: Gents… my name is Dusty. To date, I have been resident amongst the masses of Gear Patrol devotees. Now, I have received a different calling. My charge is to shrug off the casual and carefree life of one who solely reads; I am to eschew the selfish pleasures man-info consumption, and to, instead, contribute mighty works of journalistic prowess suitable for the enlightenment of the Gear Patrol audience.
I’m sure that we would all agree that Gear Patrol shines as a bright beacon in the world of Men’s Lifestyle and Leisure. With numerous other sites and magazines vying for your attention, you read Gear Patrol because it cuts through the worthless flotsam and jetsam the other sites and blogs rehash day in and day out, bringing you a unique perspective on the latest gizmos and whatnots that matter to you. Well, it just so happens that I majored in gizmos and minored in whatnots.
Hopefully, my background and experiences will allow me to deliver piping-hot and tasty content direct to you from my areas of expertise. I was schooled in the beautiful Southeastern U.S. of A. There I spent only a modicum of time in actual class; instead wisely opting to hone other skills such as video game dominance (Ed: Dusty’s GoldenEye skills were unparalleled - full stop), media and entertainment studies, and indulging my competitive nature.
Post graduation, I sojourned for three years in southern Germany. There, I garnered a great appreciation for European culture as well as their longstanding brewing traditions/skills. Needless to say, travel is up there on my list of personal passions. Now I am back in the States where, by day, I work in sales and marketing in the construction industry. Also, I’m an on-again, off-again runner who enjoys many outdoor activities, preeminent among them being a fanatical, though rarely fantastical, golfer.
That being said, you may have to indulge some of my written idiosyncrasies. If my posts get too wacky, surely someone will let me know (Eric?). I plan to bring a bit of wit and wisdom to a community that clearly already has them in spades. Fellow readers, I shall do you proud by helping advance Gear Patrol in advancing you. After all, it’s a good bet that at least some of what entertains me just might entertain you too.

If you’re a golfer of modest means, then today’s economic climate may be dampening your links-going spirit. Golf has never exactly been a cheap endeavor, but when finances are tight it is especially important to be creative in the purchases that fuel your game. It’s easy to how the tab on tee times and having the latest driver can add up, but don’t forget the steady diet of shiny new balls that your game demands. Finding one that fits both your swing and your budget is crucial to playing well and playing more.
We humbly submit that the Bridgestone E-Series is a great place to start. Priced at less than $30 per dozen, each ball in the E-Series is designed to fit particular golfers. The E5+ helps maximize height for those with a flat-trajectory, the E6+ reduces side-spin for players that need greater control, and the E7+ promotes a more penetrating flight to add distance for high-ball hitters.
Being in the latter camp, we took the E7+ out for a few rounds of real-world testing. It turns out that the venerable tiremaker makes a smoking round-ball as well. A few impressions follow.
Editor’s Note: The Bridgestone E7+ has quickly become my go to golf ball thanks to it’s keen combination of price and performance. I’m typically looking for two facets of ball performance: I hit the ball laughably high, so I want to maximize my carry distance, and I want a lot control for pitch shots around the greens. The E7+ excels in both departments.
Additionally, the E7+ seems to offer a pretty high level of durability. When I play a softer ball, it’s not uncommon to see several scuffs after only a few holes, particularly I’ve been hitting approach shots from inside 100 yards. The E7+ held up much better under my withering wedges, with one ball making it through most of the round (until it was sent to its eternal resting place in Davy Jones’s Locker) in good condition. If someone gives me a (dozen) more expensive ball, I’m going to play it, but when I’m buying, I’ll go Bridgestone. We love products that remind us that more expensive doesn’t always mean better.
It’s worth noting that, for the deep-pocketed or extremely discerning among you, Bridgestone makes an excellent tour-quality ball, as well. Their Tour B330 series booms it and plays like the #1 tour ball with which it competes.
Cost: $26

You need to do some fact checking in this review. Calling a ball like this an imitation or an immitator is not correct at all. They are absolutely an innovator and have the patents to back it up.
Bridgestone makes exceptional golf balls. I played the e5 before I stepped up to the B330-S. I highly recommend giving Bridgestone a try.
Josh,
No such implication intended. All top-notch golf balls are chasing the same prize: top-notch performance. Just as Patrick attested to above, the B330 line should be considered a part of that group. Other balls have been around longer, but the Bridgestones are just as good or better. As we said, we're very impressed with the performance of both the E and B330 series.

The Bridgestones are superior balls with great performance. Great for my swing speed.
