I've used it for long day hikes, school, and as an alternative to carrying a purse (mine is the slightly smaller version than the one pictured). I never get sore shoulders or a sore back from carrying it because the weight is really evenly distributed. It is by far my favorite bag (of many-- I may have a small fetish).
