An Ugg bootis made from the skin of an Australian merino sheep most commonly. The wool part of the skin faces into the inside of the boot and so lies against the leg. This results in a warm soft feel to the boot that is found only from wearing Uggs boots. The Ugg is unique in the level of comfort it offers to the wearer, and devotees of Uggs will maintain tenaciously that Uggs are the most comfortable boot on planet, unsurpassed by any other form of footwear.

Patrick,
My first (and to date only) half marathon was also an April affair. My winters are milder than yours, to be sure, but I've found that it beats distance training in the sweltering heat plus, as you said, is a great excuse to gear up. I'm sure you've looked at all the options, but there's lots of wisdom to be found in old-school running guru Hal Higdon, whose plan I used to train.

Patrick - Good article, but a couple other items you definitely need when cold weather running:

Warm socks - I like SmartWool PhD Running Light Mini - https://www.smartwool.com/default.cfm#/Mens/Socks...

Gloves - Under Armour makes good gloves with grip.

Fleece hat - I like my Nike hat - http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?country=US&la...
