Rusty Wired Jacket

Calling An Audible on Hoodies

By Dan Finkelstein on 6.16.10

Upon joining Gear Patrol, I was given the writer mandate: Go forth and find unique and amazing gear. Now, it will vary by writer and reader taste, but a recent find that’s worth your attention is the Rusty’s Wired Series Jacket ($50). This all in one jacket with built-in headphones is worth some attention.

Often times guys find themselves staring at a Gordian knot of white cables attached to an iPod. Despite tricky wire winding techniques (that often time prove to be a pain in the ass), we’ve simply chosen to accept this is the price to pay for ear buds on the go. Rusty (the brand) has solved this problem by building the ear buds right in the jacket itself. The iPod (or other music device) is seated in a pocket with the male end of the headphones and the ear buds cleverly disguised as hoodie drawstrings.

The headphones provided better audio quality and bass than the standard included headphones from Apple, and feature a soft rubber tip that fits nicely in the ear (mind out of gutter please), above average quality headphones, warm fleece lined jacket, sleeve thumb holes, and a great companion on a long flight. This jacket is functional, warm, stylish, and even machine washable. If you’d like to see the Wired Series in person they will be on tour across the country.
