Suit: Indochino Piccadilly Purple Pinstripe Suit (Jacket, Pants, Vest - $395), Ultimate Utility Shirt ($85), Louis’ Lilies Blue Tie ($40), Chrome Cubes Cufflinks ($35), Sunglasses: John Varvatos, Phone: iPhone 3G, Watch: EOS Red Knight in Black

Whether you earn five or six figures, the thought of purchasing a custom tailored suit seems a bit daunting. We empathize. They’re expensive, require multiple visits to the tailor, and take a month to produce. Frankly, more commitment than you, or we, have time for.

Take our advice and skip the department and chain stores. Your next suit can and will be custom tailored. It’s going to be based off a designer label cut. It’s going to cost you less than four hundred dollars. And it’s only going to take you a few minutes to purchase.

Enter Indochino, a purveyor of custom tailored premium quality suits based of the latest designer styles. They deliver the goods and they deliver them fast. They focus on busy professionals, hard to fit body types and any man looking for quality and speed. How fast? The ordering process takes 10 minutes top to bottom. That fast.

J.Crew Tribeca Men’s Shop At The Liquor Store

A New Sartorial Destination For Men

GP.FEATURE.gifToday, J.Crew opened their first store for men, and men only - The Tribeca Men’s Shop. The outfitting destination is a collection of unique men’s items, foregoing the massive retail chain look for a look and feel that can be best described as a mix between brown liquor and boutique. The items you’ll find here are just as unique so find comfort knowing that your purchase won’t be worn by some fellow you run into in the parking lot.

J.Crew-Tribeca-Men's-Shop-At-The-Liquor-Store-now.jpgJ.Crew’s overarching vintage/French style is in full force at the 925 sq ft Tribeca Men’s Shop with Mackintosh coats, Italian suits, vintage oxford shirts, leather messenger bags, and well-priced cashmere sweaters in abundance. Better yet the pricing isn’t much more than what you’d see in a regular mall-bound J.Crew.

Gear Patrol got a sneak-peak at the store earlier this week and we must admit that the soothing notion of being in a store curated and designed by men gave us an entirely new perspective on the J.Crew brand. The mix of vintage prep, rotating art exhibits in the dressing area, and unique one-offs like Thomas Mason shirting, Baracuta jackets, tie clips/bars, and old Rolex watches made us think hard and carefully about turning our dining rooms into renovated liquor stores.

[ Part 1: Attire | Part 2: Shoes | Part 3: Accessories ]

D6C08EF0-62F5-4715-A795-623667F369EA.jpgOver the next three Tuesdays, Gear Patrol plans to bring you ensembles for the workplace that are sharp, inexpensive and easy to find - starting with attire. 5 Jobs. 5 Ensembles. Real Prices.

We read the magazines too, so we know how irritating it is that a fashion director somewhere in New York thinks he (or worse, she) honestly believes you’re willing to purchase $1500 suits, $300 shirts, $150 ties, $300 shoes, $30 socks, $200 belts, $350 wallets, and still have money left over for rent. Sure, a few marquee pieces in your wardrobe are worthwhile and we’ll deliver those to you in time, but lets talk about real money in real life. Whether you earn $50k, $100k or $200k here are five simple ensembles, by job, that won’t incinerate your paycheck, unlike that last trip to Vegas. Read on.

J.Crew Long Sleeve Jersey Polo

j.crew-Long-sleeve-broken-in-pocket-jersey-polo.jpgI’m nearly certain this J.Crew Jersey polo will take you into your summer evenings in style and comfort. It has for me. The extraordinarily soft cotton jersey shirt is garment-dyed for a vintage look and tailored with a slimmer tennis cut (longer in the back) with side vents. Buttons are also real South American Corozo. J.Crew is offering this in 8 colors.

This polo is only available online at jcrew.com.

Editor’s Tip: The shirt makes it look like this polo matches with white denim well. It does. Problem is white denim doesn’t match you so skip it and stick with a lighter chino. Unless you can actually pull of white denim.

Cost: $47 @ J.Crew

Gap Limited Edition Checked Shirt

Gap-Limited-Edition-Checkered-Shirt.jpgGap’s limited edition European Collection is back with some new choices. The designs conceived in, well, Europe, are crisp and clean with a touch of European style.

This blue dove checkered short sleeve shirt is a great addition to the wardrobe this summer. Perfect with a pair of well-fitting cargos. Yes, it’s a short sleeve button up which can instantly make you look like you hold an AARP card. Of course, that’s only when you choose the wrong shirt and that’s not going to happen because you read Gear Patrol.

Cost: $34 @ Gap
