Forget saving up for a car or home. A single-engine jet is what you need. An Eclipse 400 at that. The Eclipse 400 is a single-jet powered plane that cruises 41,000 feet aloft at a speed of 380mph propelled by the 1,200 lbs of thrust enimating from its Pratt & Whitney PW615 engine. That’s three miles above its nearest competitor, if you care about that kind of thing. If you’re in life where owning a jet is possible, then we assume you are.
You and three companions will be enclosed in a leather swathed cabin/digital-cockpit alongside a 36 foot wingspan in a one of the most fuel-efficient jets (one pound of fuel per nautical mile). Oh, and a paint scheme that automatically qualifies it for the Gear Patrol seal of approval. Don’t take our word for it, take a look at the incredibly delicious pictures after the jump.
Cost: $1,350,000 @ Eclipse Aviation

There’s few manly hair shampoo options out there, and believe us, that Pantene Pro-V in your girlfriend’s shower isn’t one of them. Gillette High Performance Shampoo series is specially formulated to clean men’s hair. The new charged cleansers pull away dirt and oil to give you that extra clean feeling. Their Clean + Refreshing Shampoo is infused with mint extracts that cleans with just a hint of fresh mint, but don’t worry, it’s still manly enough to carry the Gillette branding.

Tempted as you may be to associate the Klipsch Image headphones with the tattered original headphones currently strangling to your ipod; one listen to these copper beauties and you’ll know these are a class apart.
Touted as the smallest and lightest headphones in production, we put these miniscule tubes through their paces to settle for certain if they met the standards we’ve come to expect from a company like Klipsch. Read on to see why.

It’s official. The Lotus Evora. A ‘grown-up’ Lotus coupe with proper amenities. Say, like an actual interior (see an image of the interior after the jump).
The Evora will be powered by a 276 horsepower Toyota sourced V6 that will propel the 2,976 lb. vehicle with typical Lotus-like fury. Again, the key highlight of the Evora will be its sumptuous, yet sporty, interior, which will sport leather, a navigation system and the ability to get in and out of the car without Crisco and pullies. We’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of this one. [via press release]

You’ve got a bag you travel with. It’s summer so you probably have it out in full force. Question is, are you using your gym bag as double-duty? If so then stop.
You’re not in college anymore so get your travel gear in order. PUMA’s Urban Mobility Out of Town Collection focuses on streamlined and sophisticated travel. The kind of traveling you do. We’re big fans of the Large Cargo and Duffle Bags. They’ve got an effortless modern aesthetic and perfect for those of you who don’t go for the full-leather look.
More on the bags and gear you see after the jump.

Gail force winds, horizontal rain, frigid temperatures and even the poor British dental system couldn’t deter Padraig Harrington from defending his Open crown. Some questioned whether Harrington really won the crown last year or was given it, but no one can take away from what he did this week at Royal Birkdale. Paddy now becomes the 24th man to ever win multiple Majors and the first European in over 100 years to defend an Open title. It seems that the best preparation for a Major this year is to hurt yourself right before. I wouldn’t be surprised to see half the field show up to the PGA Championship at Oakmont a little gimpy.
We should also pass along our thanks to Greg Norman who stepped into the spotlight this week injecting his charisma and flair, like he did when he was the #1 player in the world, and filled an obvious void created by Tiger’s absence. He provided the media frenzy experts were convinced would be lacking. Just shows you what they know.

From the Editor: - Today I’m glad to say that the Gear Patrol team has grown 7 strong with our newest editor, Ben Bowers. You’ve already read Ben’s first thoughts on the iPhone, but be sure to catch all his posts here. Bowers, based here in New York, will be focused on keeping you in the know on electronics, gadgets that actually mean something to you - unlike much of the repetitive drivel you’re seeing out there on the web. On to Ben’s intro…
Born in Baton Rouge and educated on the East coast, I’m currently fighting my way through the ranks of the Big Apple and let me tell you, it’s a war.
Gadget obsessed and tenaciously hungry for new technology, I’m always on the hunt for glimpses of the latest and greatest. The only rule is that they’ve got to be legit. None of that speculation nonsense every site and blog seems dead set on rehashing and repeating. Good gear that’s worth your’s (and my) time.
Otherwise you’ll find me on my turntables scouring over an ever expanding collection - mission: creating the perfect mix. As some of the other Gear Patrol editors will attest, my golf game is ‘developing’ (whether I like it or not) right in sync with my voracious appetite for red wine, both of which will bring any payroll to its knees. They told me when I joined the team here at Gear Patrol that the site’s purpose is about advancing one’s self and sharing just how that’s done with our readers… I’m looking forward to doing just that.
Ben can be reached for question or comments via e-mail at bbowers@gearpatrol.com.

If you haven’t sacrificed years of your life to training and you’re not already in Beijing, chances are slim that you’ll be at the Olympics this year. Like most Americans, including myself, you’ll probably spend part of your August 8th week gazing at a jumbotron scoreboard (your HDTV) with an athletic beverage (cold beer) in one hand and the javelin (remote) in the other. But as realistic as the pictures on your plasma are, they can’t compete with the real thing. So, if you’re dying for a piece of the Olympics, grab a pair of the Made for Beijing Collection by adidas. Some accuse me of being an urban dweller, but I can reassure you that I spent many a summer digging holes: holes for fence posts, holes for our family’s sprinkler syste, and holes for mafia hits. Er, scratch that last one.
It’s unfortunate I had to rely on crap department store brands instead of a Zac Tool. No longer will I make that mistake. The Zac Tool super heavy duty trenching shovel will work in narrow spaces as well as large and hold up to the toughest ground (it has a 12 gauge blade) and it’s patenteded blade and shake design make shaping a breeze.
Cost: $19-$39 @ Zac Tool
