About: Hello, gentlemen; this is Anthony, and this is my long-awaited bio post (according to the ever-pestering Eric, anyway). Personally, I think Gear Patrol is making me poorer. Not the best idea in today’s economy but, what the hell - hopefully, Citi will fall after I purchase a few barrels of JD. As one of the very first readers, I’ve enjoyed watching the site grow from one new post every few days to several articles daily - finding more and more gear I could add to my ever-growing collection. So, I find it a great honor that I was selected to join The GP Crew. Despite many failed attempts to get Eric to write my bio for me (so I could envelop myself in Call of Duty at his pad), he remained stalwart, and I was relegated to alternative measures: interviewing myself. So without further ado, I give you Anthony vs. Anthony - on the hot seat. [Continued after the jump] Tell us a little about yourself. My editors know me to be laid back, obsessed with finding deals on the finer things in life, and one who tends to over-research products. Why? To convince myself that I desperately need something, then not buy it. It’s a sordid affair. That’s pretty rough. Anything else? I’m also a fanatic when it comes to reading about random articles and an irate, foul-mouthed lunatic when it comes to playing video games (Ed: True). I’m perpetually on the move, calling New York, Chattanooga, and Memphis home. What’s one embarrassing moment you’d like to share with our readers and forever be published on the internet for the whole world to see? Gee, Anthony, when you put it that way… Oh wait… actually, looking back one of the funniest events (not for me at the time) had to be when I was learning how to ride a bike. Being the young and ever-confident 5 year old trying to keep up with an older bro, I decided to try and show off by riding my bike down the hill - sans training wheels. So what happened? Because, well… you fall down and you keep going and that’s what guys do. The old adage applies here: if you can’t laugh at yourself, you shouldn’t be laughing at all. What’s your biggest vice? An outrageously good deal (think: slickdeals.net). Oh, and Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve. Is there anything embarrassing you can tell us about Eric Yang? Eric is supafly smooth (Ed: I’d debate “supafly”). I’m still waiting for him to trip up; we all are, actually. Such events are rarer than spotting Nessie. About: I joined the gang at Gear Patrol because I believe that as men we often settle for less than the very best lifestyle we can attain. It’s been ingrained into our psyches to forgo certain products, services or lifestyles because they don’t fall within some antiquated male paradigm. Bunk. It’s time as men to stand up and redefine what’s rightfully ours. Much of what I have learned to this end has come through advice from guys who had the experiences and knowledge I was seeking. My only regret was not learning it sooner. Now I feel it’s my obligation to pass along what I know. I’m not saying I have all the answers but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned so far. On a more personal level, I live an active lifestyle and focus on my health and wellness as a means to sustain the frenetic pace. I also suffer from a case of golf-itis and spend a lot of my free time perusing that passion… ok, obsession. I aim to incorporate relevant fitness and golf content into Gear Patrol’s expanding coverage of all things male. Like the rest of the crew I can’t stand over-hyped, under-performing products. About: Gents… my name is Dusty. To date, I have been resident amongst the masses of Gear Patrol devotees. Now, I have received a different calling. My charge is to shrug off the casual and carefree life of one who solely reads; I am to eschew the selfish pleasures man-info consumption, and to, instead, contribute mighty works of journalistic prowess suitable for the enlightenment of the Gear Patrol audience. I’m sure that we would all agree that Gear Patrol shines as a bright beacon in the world of Men’s Lifestyle and Leisure. With numerous other sites and magazines vying for your attention, you read Gear Patrol because it cuts through the worthless flotsam and jetsam the other sites and blogs rehash day in and day out, bringing you a unique perspective on the latest gizmos and whatnots that matter to you. Well, it just so happens that I majored in gizmos and minored in whatnots. Hopefully, my background and experiences will allow me to deliver piping-hot and tasty content direct to you from my areas of expertise. I was schooled in the beautiful Southeastern U.S. of A. There I spent only a modicum of time in actual class; instead wisely opting to hone other skills such as video game dominance (Ed: Dusty’s GoldenEye skills were unparalleled - full stop), media and entertainment studies, and indulging my competitive nature. Post graduation, I sojourned for three years in southern Germany. There, I garnered a great appreciation for European culture as well as their longstanding brewing traditions/skills. Needless to say, travel is up there on my list of personal passions. Now I am back in the States where, by day, I work in sales and marketing in the construction industry. Also, I’m an on-again, off-again runner who enjoys many outdoor activities, preeminent among them being a fanatical, though rarely fantastical, golfer. That being said, you may have to indulge some of my written idiosyncrasies. If my posts get too wacky, surely someone will let me know (Eric?). I plan to bring a bit of wit and wisdom to a community that clearly already has them in spades. Fellow readers, I shall do you proud by helping advance Gear Patrol in advancing you. About: I joined Gear Patrol because I love searching for gear in my free time, and I felt the need to pass on my knowledge. About: Hello, my name is Marc and I’m addicted to Gear Patrol. I started my subscription because I wanted to win free stuff, and I did. After that, I found myself checking the website everyday then finally two or three times a day while I was at work… that’s when I knew I had a problem. Not caring that I would get an email alert about new posts, I had to read the witty humor and learn about the latest gadgets before anybody else. When Gear Patrol said they where hiring, I felt compelled to apply. A month later, here I am confessing my addiction and introducing myself as the newest member of the Gear Patrol team. So, who is Marc? Well, I’m a financial analyst and originally from Virginia, having moved to Manhattan about 8 years ago for college. After college I got a job at a major financial services firm and haven’t looked back. A year ago I moved to (gasp) New Jersey. But, before you dismiss me as bridge and tunnel trash, there are a couple of benefits to the Garden State. One, rent is more managable. Two, I have a car and therefore a way to get out of the city and do the things I like to do. What occupies my time? You can see from my first post that I surf, having picked it up late last summer and surfed until the cold simply made it unbearable. When I’m not surfing you’ll find me hiking every chance I get. Otherwise, I’m on either one of of two vehicles: riding my bike out on 10-20 miles rides or my ‘07 Mini Cooper S named beaster (love that car). Eric asked me what my dream gear would be and I had to say it would be Allison Stokke um… I mean a Ferrari Enzo. Cliche? Perhaps. Incredible (on either account)? Undoubtedly.
