Shepard Does It Again

Mass Effect 2

Today marks the release of one of the most anticipated games of this young year, Mass Effect 2. Exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, this outer space opus picks up where its predecessor left of, with humanity and the other Citadel species wary of a threat far greater than they can imagine. Dogged by a previously unknown enemy called the Reapers who are intent on wiping out all life in the galaxy, the fate of all the civilized races will fall a man by the name of Shepard. Needless to say, he’s Jack Bauer and then some.

The game is epic in it’s scope and plays out via a third person shooting interface. There are plenty of RPG elements such as party building, leveling, and inventory management, but, ultimately, this is an action adventure. Production values and and expectations are sky high for this title. If you’ve any doubt, hit the jump to watch the game’s launch trailer. It’s one of the best we’ve ever seen, and Jed Bartlet’s Martin Sheen’s voice-acting certainly doesn’t hurt.

Cost: $57
