MoviePass is a brand new startup hoping to revolutionize the way film addicts get their regular dose o’ big screen. For $50 bucks a month, clients can enjoy an unlimited number of movies. Everything works via an app, which is available for both Android and iOS users. Through it, users can reserve seats and simply flash the app as a ticket at theaters. The service has launched initially in San Francisco, and will roll out to other cities starting in the fall. MoviePass claims that over 40% of theaters have partnered with the service, and they hope to grow that number overtime. In addition to the convenience of binge viewing, members will also be able to access perks such as discounts on concessions, invites to early screenings, and so-called “VIP” treatment where available. As theater movie addicts living in New York, we’d only have to catch four movies a month to make the service worthwhile, which isn’t exactly a stretch.
