Recently, TaylorMade asked a handful of folks, including GP, to go hands-on with the all-new RocketBallz club franchise. Comprised of two new drivers, two new iron sets, and a golfball, the Rocketballz (aka RBZ) will hit shelves this Spring packed with tons of new technology and a pretty unforgettable name. Ultimately, all that research and development hones in one real-world benefit: more distance. And in the case of the 3-Wood — a staple club in this particular writer’s game — a total of 17 more yards over its predecessors. And as you can see from our photos, happens to look absolutely killer.
Now, 17 yards may not sound like much in a game measured in hundreds, but when it comes down to brass tacks 50+ feet can mean a big difference on the course. Put another way: 51 feet is more than half and the full width of a basketball court, which means a real revolution in approach strategies on the course. Lengthy par 4’s are no longer scorecard crushers, par 5’s seem like hills instead of mountains, and yes a shelf full of tee-box boasting rights. Next spring can’t come soon enough.
We’ve got plenty more photos of our 3-Wood, RBZ balls, etc right after the jump.
