You gotta love the World Rally Championship race series. Wickedly cool cars, crazy courses, even crazier drivers and then there are the navigators who apparently never seem to get car sick (unlike us). Well, if that’s your cup of tea, then feast your eyes on the all new Lotus Exige R-GT. Newly released photos show the car that’s currently under development by the track car king for the new FIA GT Class in 2012. As recently as last July, the development for the car began, based on the wonderful and very successful Exige S, with a 3.5 liter supercharged engine with 302 bhp output. The power-to-weight ratio, the chassis balance, 6-speed sequential manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, and a seriously beefed up suspension should be a boon to Lotus in the series. We especially love the crazy battery of rally lights at the front that brings back sweet memories of the ultracool Lancia Stratos. Preliminary tests reveal that the car is performing swimmingly and final tweaks will be made before the car shows up for races in Monte Carlo, Tour de Corse and San Remo, Italy. Bring it.
