Danner Tektite Plain Toe Boots

Sports and Outdoors : Camping By Photo by Danner

Danner, the famed Portland, Oregon bootmaker, has been manufacturing some of the finest boots made for hunting, hiking, work and law enforcement since 1932, but their new Tektite Plain Toe 3″ Boots ($115+) throw pomp and tradition aside. In the pursuit of melding sneaker fit with work boot toughness, Tektites use both a lighter platform and breathable upper fabric while retaining Danner’s customary full-grain leather and Polyurethane toe and heel caps.

The result is a more athletic fit that still stands up to the wear and tear of work — and should mean less break-in time. Their Superfabric also provides great abrasion resistance, while GORE-TEX XCR lining keeps water and dampness out. The boot’s flatter, lower profile should also help you look far more contemporary and less like you belong on a roll of Brawny when you’re wearing them around town.
