Bang for your buck, though ignored by many snobs who insist on only buying “top-tier” products (with price tags to match), is not dead, nor even floundering. The Victorinox Fibrox 8-inch Chef’s Knife ($27) is a key kitchen tool that beats out competitors costing three times as much. The knife’s blade is made of X50CrMoV15 high-carbon steel, the same as is found in much higher-priced knives. Though the blade is stamped rather than forged, it can still stand up to anything other than heavy professional use. Most importantly, the Fibrox has a lifetime warranty (not found in other knives in its price bracket), so you can rest assured while getting your chop on. Its fibrox handle is ergonomic and slip-resistant, too. Just be careful — your fingers don’t have the same warranty as the knife.
