It's what we call suspension animation.

Editor’s Note: If you’ve been around the site of late, you know we’re introducing a new way of telling stories — one with fewer words and a higher focus on bringing products we test to life through the magic of short-form video, one perfect for a quick moment of inspiration (or awe) that’s mobile friendly and ready to go. The product video made awesome.

Our inaugural batch of GP Shorts highlights a variety of excellent gear we’ve been fortunate enough to test over the last few months here at GP HQ: gadgets, cars, tools and even some stylish accessories.

When you name one of your vehicles after a vicious Jurassic-period predator, there’s an expectation that it will bite more than belch. The 411 hp, 434 lb-ft 6.2-liter V8 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is surely a vehicular monster that can only truly be tamed with the help of some serious instruction. Gear Patrol spent a full day at the Ford Racing F-150 SVT Raptor Assault School at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, learning the finer points of hill climbing, mixed terrain blasts and bona-fide offroading, all the while tossing the Raptor so hard that its dusty rooster tails could be seen from space. This GP short issues up a tantalizing taste of the soon-to-come full-length article and bonkers video of our raptorous experience.
