The Ven Storage Collection by Design Within Reach (DWR) is a collaboration between Jens Risom, an acclaimed, 99-year-old Danish furniture designer who’s been creating minimal and functional pieces since the mid-20th century, and young American designer Chris Hardy, who’s best known for his industrial, asymmetrical Helix Coffee Table. We can only imagine that after being introduced to each other, the two immediately set to doing what furniture designers do: creating a collection of beautiful credenzas, cabinets, dressers and armoires.

The idea behind the collection was to redesign Risom’s classic pieces for the contemporary home. Each piece combines wood with metal (either oak and stainless steel or walnut and brass). They’re minimally designed, which is one of Risom’s calling cards; Hardy, on the other hand, has added shelves that can be customized to fit anyone’s storage needs. Maybe the best part is that any one of the dressers can be combined with a number of the cabinets to form one masterful piece of bedroom-, dining room- or family room-ready decor.
