Apple announced that the iPhone 7 will officially ditch the headphone port. In the box, whether you get the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, you’ll get a pair of the traditional Apple EarPods that have a lightning cord connector. But Apple also announced that they’ll be introducing their first pair of wire-free buds, called Apple AirPods. And unlike other wire-free earphones — the Bragi Dash, Samsung IconX and Jabra Elite Sport — the new AirPods will be optimized for iOS devices.

The AirPods have a new W1 chip that can wirelessly connect to any of your iCloud-connected devices. That means quickly switching between listening to music on your Apple Watch, Mac and iPhone is easy. You only have to play music on one of the earbuds at a time, and talking to Siri is as simple as tapping on the AirPods. Each AirPod is said to have a battery life of about five hours, with users able to suck more power — an extra 24 hours — from their charging case.

In addition, Beats by Dre, which was acquired by Apple in 2014, also announced three new headphones that have the same W1 chip. They are the Beats Solo3 Wireless, the Powerbeats 3 and the Beats X line. The Beats Solo3 Wireless are on-ear headphones with a 40-hour battery life. Powerbeats are the next generation of the highly popular sweat- and water-resistant workout earphones. And BeatsX is a new line of wireless earphones.

The AirPods will cost $159. Expect them to come in late October. Beats Solo3 Wireless headphones will cost $300. You can pre-order them September 7 in gloss black, gloss white, gold, silver, rose gold and black. The Powerbeats3 Wireless will be available Fall 2016 for $200. They’ll come in black, white, siren red, shock yellow and flash blue. BeatsX will be available Fall 2016, in black and white, for $150.
