It’s a simple idea: durable, versatile boots that are comfortable and don’t cost a fortune. But while attending Columbia Business School in 2014, Nolan Walsh and Connor Wilson couldn’t find a brand that checked all the boxes. Mass-market boots were either poorly made, too trendy or were overbuilt workwear clunkers. So the duo founded Thursday Boot Company to make the best boot for the urban man.

The brand offers seven distinct silhouettes in a variety of leather options. Every boot features welt construction (so each can be resoled), a leather interior lining and a cork footbed that forms to the wearer’s feet over time. The brand’s two largest leather suppliers are Horween Tannery in Chicago and Le Farc in Mexico, and the boots are manufactured in Leon, Mexico, and New York City. Perfect for the winter months, the boots include a studded rubber outsole for extra traction in slippery conditions. Some models even include an EVA comfort strip, often used in athletic shoes, to ensure an agreeable fit from the first wear. Stacked with these quality features, the boots are an incredible value. Models range in price: $149 for the Scout chukka, $199 for the President lace-up boot, and $249 for the Commander hiker boot.

If you’re looking for a boot at the intersection of durability and sophistication, look to Thursday Boot Company, for classic styles that won’t break the bank.
