Link More Than 50 Speakers with UE Boom’s New PartyUp App

Today, UE Boom launched an update to their app, allowing users to link 50+ UE speakers over Bluetooth. The development is dubbed PartyUp, and it builds off of the existing DoubleUp technology. In DoubleUp, two UE Boom speakers can pair to simultaneously play tunes. Now, with PartyUp, the pairing is only limited by the number of speakers at the party (or the limit of the Bluetooth range — UE has, in tests, paired 140+ speakers). The app update works with UE Boom, UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom speakers.

The development is three years in the making, and makes UE the most robust Bluetooth pairing audio system on the market (pairing two speakers is common, but 50+ is unique). Essentially, one phone links over Bluetooth to a single, core speaker, and then the remaining speakers pair with that core speaker (if they’re within range of it). Music and volume is controlled by the app, or adjusted by buttons on each speaker. The app’s user experience is simple and intuitive, and pairing speakers is as simple as dragging and dropping. The new update still works with previous features, such as a Block Party (multiple phones with the app can add tracks to the playlist), Remote On/Off, Siri and Google Now, a Musical Alarm clock, and more.

PartyUp is available through the iOS and Android app stores beginning October 4, 2016. The app works with UE Boom, UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom through the UE Boom and UE Megaboom apps.
