The Elder Statesman, based out of L.A., is the brainchild of Greg Chait, whose enterprising ideas have built a cult-like following for his cashmere wears. Chait’s newest project is a collection with the NBA, years in the making.
“The League really embraced The Elder Statesman and gave me a lot of creative freedom,” Chait said. “We do luxury and I wanted to stay in my lane, and they were not only cool with it, they totally embraced it.” The collection features scarves, t-shirts and sweaters that feature team logos. The NBA logo brushed-cashmere sweater ($1,560) is both elevated and easy-wearing, capitalizing on the DNA that made Chait’s brand a success. “We’re doing it just like we do The Elder Statesman: lots of capsules and one-offs and limited-edition things,” Chait said. “It fits right into what we do.”
