Good morning. Blade Runner, one of the most beloved sci-fi films of all time, is finally getting a sequel. And if the first trailer is any indication, Blade Runner 2049 will be a real visual stunner, just like the first. Harrison Ford is reprising his role in the original 1982 film, while Ryan Gosling is taking over as the new main protagonist. It is set to release on October 6, 2017. Here’s what’s good in gear: a simplified winter jacket, a three-pack of masculine solid colognes, a Timex watch collab and much more.
And here are some fresh stories to start the day.
Timex x MR PORTER Collab Watches
Lately, Timex has been doing a number of excellent exclusive collaborations with men’s retailers and brands like Todd Snyder, End Clothing and J.Crew. Its most recent collab with Mr Porter has given the Waterbury model a clean and minimal makeover. The watch comes in three different color combinations with either silver or black dials, tan or black leather straps and stainless steel or black PVD cases. They’re are a scant 38mm in size and feature TIMEX’s Indiglo lighting. A perfect combination of old school and modern, they’d pair well pretty much any of the high-end apparel in Mr Porter’s online shop. – Andrew Connor, Watches Writer
What to Wear to Your Holiday Party
Break away from the traditional dress code.
Aztech Mountain Hayden Peak Jacket
One thing separates this jacket from so many others: simplicity, a rare quality in outerwear these days. One side is clean and featureless, aside from a few pockets; flipping it inside out reveals Aztech’s signature triangular quilt pattern. Both sides are water-resistant, while the insulation, a wool and synthetic fiber blend, works best a mid-layer or as an outer on moderately chilly days. Go with the bright yellow for the proper Aspen look.
Terasu Bags and Leather Goods
Creative Director Max Houtzager makes a strong argument for tote bags over backpacks.
Zwift iOS App
Any lycra-wearer who once sweat it out in a basement all winter, staring at his stem and sweating into puddles, all alone, has converted to Zwift. And for good reason. It’s a community of cyclists playing a “video game” where lithe-bodied cyclists ride around in utopian worlds (not the basement). There are also workouts and races and competition and digital elbows and high-fives to be had. The big news here is that all the fun is now on iOS. – Matthew Ankeny, Deputy Managing Editor
Beardbrand Gold Line Solid Cologne Collection
Solid cologne is fantastic. Start with this awesome three-in-one collection of masculine scents: Four Vices (notes of cannabis, coffee, hops and tobacco), Temple Smoke (notes of oud, sandalwood and vanilla), and Old Money (notes of amber, black pepper, bourbon and oak).
