Good morning. Stephen Hawking uttered his scariest prediction of humanity’s fate yet: we have just 100 years to colonize a new planet, or we will face extinction. In November, Hawking gave humanity a comparatively modest 1,000 years; his latest prediction, which was revealed in the new BBC documentary Stephen Hawking: Expedition New Earth, comes from Hawking’s increasingly cynical views on nuclear war, global warming, genetically engineered viruses, A.I., rampant population growth and even “overdue asteroid strikes.” Who shit in your cereal, Mr. Hawking?

What’s New, Now
Lauren Greenfield: Generation Wealth
For past 25 years, acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Lauren Greenfield has been neck-deep in an investigation of humanity’s obsession with wealth, spanning multiple continents and generations. Generation Wealth is the culmination of her investigation, presenting a harsh look at rampant materialism’s corrosive effect on modern society.
The Light Phone
The New York Times recently argued that we have an “intimate relationship” with our phones, much like a best friend or soulmate. For many people, that’s becoming an increasingly serious problem; when we love our phones too much, we pay less attention to the things that truly matter. The Light Phone is an elegant solution to our undying attachment to our devices. Paired with your smartphone, it acts as a second phone, capable only of making and receiving calls. There are only two buttons: one lock slider, one power. Inlaid over the matte white or matte black surface is an OLED display, and the included SIM card, which costs $5 per month, stores up to nine speed-dial contacts.
Cooperative of Photography SD Card Holder Wallet
For the photographer who’s constantly on the move (that’s most photographers), an Italian leather bifold, with enough space for four SD cards and a stack of credit cards.
Fender Mustang GT Wireless Bluetooth Amps
Musical mainstay Fender officially has the most advanced amplifier technology on the market. The Mustang GT — which is available in 40-, 100- or 200-watt sizes for home, studio or stage — is the first fully wi-fi- and Bluetooth-compatible guitar amplifier. That means you can stream music through it, program the amp settings wirelessly and access Fender’s new (and massive) catalog of digital presets through the Fender Tone app. The musical possibilities are basically endless.
