Introducing the Bravur BW003

This New Indie Timepiece Is Like a Cross Between a Vintage Dress Watch and a Diver

Because of the sheer amount of them, watches from indie brands can feel an awful lot like a dime a dozen, but every once in a while you can come across something truly interesting. That’s certainly the case with this new timepiece from Stockholm-based watchmaker Bravur. The new BW003 is the second watch from Bravur, and its first to utilize a mechanical movement. But where the watch really stands out is its design; it feels like a well-executed hybrid of a vintage dress watch and a diver, thanks to its minimal, two-tone dial design, domed crystal and coin-edged bezel.

Ticking inside is a Sellita SWSW00, a relatively thin, Swiss-made automatic movement. Thanks to that compact engine, the overall product seems exceedingly slim and comes in at a just-right 39mm in diameter. With a $1,380 starting price, it isn’t the most affordable mechanical watch from an indie brand (given it’s just a simple three-hander), but the inspired design certainly stands out as reason enough to want to add it to a collection.
