Today in Gear: The North Face’s Premier Climbing Shell, Solving the iMac’s USB Situation and More
New & Noteworthy Releases
Summit L5 Gore-Tex Pro Jacket by The North Face
Meet the premier GORE-TEX Pro Jacket from The North Face’s prestigious Summit Series. The cutting-edge three layer material makes the shell waterproof, breathable and windproof. But it’s the years of design knowledge cultivated from testing with world-class climbers that truly separate this jacket from the rest of the pack. That heritage shines through several key details including a helmet compatible hood with large Cohaesive cord locks, matte PU pit zips for venting, internal secure-zip mesh pockets that are accessible via the left alpine chest pocket and a removable powder skirt. If you’re looking for a premium shell for hiking and climbing, this one is guaranteed to last the rest of your life. — Gear Patrol
Db Equipment Travel Accessories
Douchebags (yes, that’s the company’s name) was founded in 2012 by professional skier Jon Olsson and designer Truls Brataas with the goal to build a better ski bag. They succeeded, but they didn’t stop — the company has won numerous awards for the minimalist style of its collection of bags. Now the team is taking on travel accessories with a new line that includes laptop sleeves, a Dopp kit, passport cover, luggage tag and more. Leather and the color black are common motifs. — Tanner Bowden
Adidas Progressor Splite Goggles
Lately, most of the news from Adidas has to do with Kanye West collab shoes you can’t get. But this week the athletic brand released a product that’s actually revolutionary: ultralight ski goggles. They’re called the Progressor Splite, and they weigh just under 80 grams (about 2.6 ounces). The goggles are constructed with a frameless design that’s remarkably flexible. — Tanner Bowden
Satechi USB Type-C Clamp Hub Pro
In case the new iMac Pro’s bevy of ports wasn’t enough, this Satechi hub adds a few more: one USB-C port, three USB 3.0 ports and a Micro/SD slot. It’s designed to fasten to the bottom of the display and face you, so you don’t have to reach around to plug/unplug your cords. And it comes in space gray or silver, so you can match it with your iMac Pro or iMac Retina 4K. — Tucker Bowe
Terasu Vol 02 — Connective Tissue
California-based Terasu just released its second book titled Connective Tissue. Printed in an edition of 1,000 with four cover variations, the book explores the relationship between humans and water through the work of four photographers — including Taro Tamai and Eric Wolfinger — and a microbiologist. A written supplement of five essays is included with the book and is printed in Japanese and English. — John Zientek
United Arrows X Citizen Ana-Digi Temp
The Ana-Digi Temp was a seminal watch of the 1980s, combining a digital time readout with a classic analog display. The watch also featured a temperature gauge, a stopwatch and an alarm function, as well. It was exemplary of the tech-packed, Japanese digital watches of the ’80s, and now Citizen is re-releasing the watch through United Arrows’ Beauty & Youth store. Unfortunately it appears to be limited to sale in Japan, but if you have friends in Japan it might be time to call in a favor. — Andrew Connor
Get This Timex x Red Wing Field Watch for Just $75

In collaboration with Red Wing, the watch features a beautiful leather strap from the iconic Minnesota boot maker. Today, the 38mm version is on sale for just $75. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better watch for that price — it’s a steal.
Winter-Ready Boots from Danner Are 30% Off
Winter is a time of rain, snow and even worse: slush, and whether you live in a sprawling urban center or a small mountain town, winter boots are essential for getting through the season with warm and dry feet. But decent winter boots don’t have to be massive chunks of rubber — you’re not living in the Arctic after all — and for most, a pair of sturdy leather hiking boots will do the trick just fine.
Danner constructs its boots with premium materials like full-grain leather, suede and Vibram rubber soles to take on the weather year round. Its collection offers a variety of styles, from the low-top Jag to the classic leather Mountain Light, that are equally suited to trails, towns and cities. Right now these boots and many more are available for 30% off their regular price — your feet will thank you time and again during the months of winter that remain.

Save 51% on This KitchenAid Coffee Maker and Have All the Cold Brew You’ll Ever Need
The usual way of making cold brew at home — essentially putting a french press in the fridge overnight — is functional, but it yields so little coffee for all the time you’ve spent waiting for it to brew. KitchenAid’s massive Cold Brew Maker, launched earlier this year, is the antidote. It makes up to 14 servings in one batch, and all you have to do is throw grounds and water into its gaping vat and wait. Right now, Amazon slashed its price in half, so while cold brew isn’t exactly the most season-appropriate beverage this time of year, you’ll save a considerable amount of money if you buy now and wait to use it in the spring.
