From Mr P.
Your Spring Wardrobe Staples, Inspired by Mid-Century L.A.
The widespread adoration of mid-century design is not limited to furniture, interiors and architecture. In the post-war decades, American style came into its own: core garments like jeans and tees became casual staples as sweatshirts and other athletic wear proliferated; sweaters and outerwear, meanwhile, were refreshed in modern cuts and colors. This era inspired the latest collection from Mr Porter’s in-house brand Mr P., which took style cues from people like Dennis Hopper, Ed Ruscha, Roy Lichtenstein. Made up of 23 pieces, the spring collection includes a range of strong basics, including jeans, boxy sweatshirts and versatile knits. Though the inspiration for the collection is a half-century old, these pieces feel fresh and modern — a worthwhile addition to any contemporary wardrobe.
