We Can’t Wait to Wear These Gym Sneakers All the Time
Adidas, Nike, Brooks, New Balance and Reebok dominate the sneaker space. You can’t walk into a running shoe specialty or sporting goods store without spotting at least three of these brands. Two brothers are out to change that. Josh and James Shorrock spent the first fourteen years of their lives moving around Asia, the US and the UK for their dad’s job in the footwear industry. They stayed connected to each new spot through sport, which eventually lead them to gigs at Adidas and Hypebeast respectively. In 2017, they decided to leave their jobs and start a sneaker company for the everyday athlete — Lane-Eight.
The shoes are designed for people who are athletes in their own right, not necessarily pros, but daily active commuters or gym-goers. The first sneaker the brand released is the AD 1 Trainer ($160). The multi-purpose sneaker isn’t just for basketball players or runners or dog walkers; it’s for the everyday guy who is active all the time, whether that’s a pick-up game after work, bowling on Saturdays or running around the park with the kids on a Sunday afternoon. With a sock-like fit, the bouncy ETPU pellets provide great energy return and won’t compress under pressure, making each step cushy and comfortable. Stability isn’t a concern with firm sidewalls made from TPU.
