These Heavy Duty Whiskey Glasses Are Pretty Much Perfect

Norlan’s whiskey glass is one of the best and most revered among serious whiskey drinkers. Designed expressly for the purposes of high-level spirit tasting, its uses are reserved for the whiskey enthusiast and up. Its new glass, however, is not. The Rauk Heavy Tumbler (the name means “rock” in Old Scottish) takes the silhouette of an everyday whiskey tumbler, but, as cliché as it sounds, is anything but.

Instead of being cut-crystal glasses, these are formed by pressing molten crystal. The result is a sturdier, heavier whiskey glass. And because a tumbler is best suited for cocktails (chilled whiskey is fine, too), the base of the glass is a field of protruding hills and valleys, which act as “friction points for gripping ingredients used in muddled drinks.”

The glasses, which retail for $50 a pop, are available for pre-order now and ship later this year.
