Eddie Bauer BC EverTherm Down Jacket
Save $249: Last year, Eddie Bauer released Thindown, an innovative down insulation that arranges feathers in fabric-like sheets rather than loose clusters. Thindown, which debuted in the EverTherm jacket, eliminates the need for down jackets to use baffles and in turn, disposes of stitching and the cold spots it creates. Long story short, the new fluff helped Eddie Bauer make a down jacket that was lighter and warmer.

This year, Eddie Bauer continued the development of Thindown with a new down jacket called the BC EverTherm. The jacket’s evolution goes back further than Thindown though; years ago, Seth Waterfall, a member of Eddie Bauer’s First Ascent athlete development team, approached the group with the idea to make a waterproof, down-filled hardshell jacket and was met with eye rolls. It would be too heavy, and down clusters are useless once they get damp.

Thindown allows the BC EverTherm to clear those hurdles; it’s lighter, and its down sheets are treated with DWR. “It’s as close as I’ve seen to the best ski shell, belay jacket, do-it-all working person’s mountain jacket,” says Waterfall, who played a crucial role in its ultimate design and tested it during climbs of Mt. Rainier and other peaks in the Cascades.

The BC EverTherm was designed with those high-alpine environments in mind, but its functions apply wherever winter weather may vary unpredictably between snow and rain (like, for instance, New York City). And even though the jacket is brand new for this fall, you can get it today for 50 percent off — that’s $250 — when you use the code SPECIAL at checkout. — Tanner Bowden

Lodge 10-Inch Cast-Iron Skillet
Save 33% Lodge’s skillets start at the very economical $15 range. Today, its classic kitchen standard 10-inch skillet is marked down to $10 on Sierra Trading Post. What’s the difference between a cheap Lodge and one of the specialty brands? Cooking-wise, not a ton — most of the boutique skillets have machined surfaces, which are generally superior when it comes to releasing food from the surface (eggs, especially), and some have quirky design features that are useful to some degree (Finex’s handles, Field’s super light weight, etc.).

R.M. Williams Tonal Sydney Boot
Save 44%:In recent years, Australian bootmaker R.M. Williams has expanded its reach across the world. The brand — which was founded in Adelaide in 1932 — received substantial investment from L Capital (a private-equity fund sponsored by LVMH), along with IFM Investors and Hugh Jackman. For a brand that rose to prominence offering riding boots, leather goods and saddles for cattlemen, the significance of this can’t be overstated.
What these global investors saw in the brand was a quintessential Chelsea boot that should be available to a much wider audience. The boots are made from a single-piece leather upper, have a clean silhouette, a simple pull-on style and superior durability. Though the design hasn’t changed much over the past eight decades, the price has risen to something that leans more towards luxury than workwear.
But now for a limited time, you can save 44 percent on a pair of Tonal Sydney Boots at Need Supply. The style has a tan suede upper, a chisel toe and a leather sole. Normally $495, it’s just $278 while supplies last.
