These Mohair Sweaters Deserve a Spot in Your Wardrobe

While sweaters made with sheep’s wool dominate are ubiquitous, a number of menswear designers are turning to mohair in this season’s knits. The silk-like yarn made from the hair of the Angora goat is a luxury fiber like cashmere and has a number of noticeable qualities that set it apart from tradition wool yarns. It is both very soft and durable and it exhibits a unique sheen.

Naturally elastic, the fiber is both insulating and moisture wicking. Because you can dye mohair easily, sweaters made from the fiber come in an array of colors. But in most cases, it is blended with other fibers to help retain shape when spun into yarn. Sweaters made with mohair feature traditional designs and patterns, but the unique fiber makes them instantly recognizable. Check out a few of our favorites below.
