This Cheap Lodge Skillet Is the Perfect Starter Pan for Cast-Iron Beginners

April 1, 2019 Home By

Good news: Lodge’s 12-inch skillet is marked down to just $25 at Amazon. Its 10 inches of cooking space (the 12-inch designation refers to a wall-to-wall measurement, not cooking space) is the ideal size for most stovetop burners — any bigger and heat distribution issues are exacerbated, any smaller and you can’t cook a whole lot. Plus, unlike Lodge’s behemoth 13- and 15-inch pans, the 12-inch will actually fit in a kitchen cabinet. As with all Lodge pans, the 12-inch comes pre-seasoned and ready to cook out of the box (we recommend starting with bacon).
