This Athletic-Inspired Trend Is Everywhere This Season

April 15, 2019 Style By

If 2019 has revealed anything about the state of clothing design, it’s that designers are finding inspiration everywhere. Case in point: the tracksuit. Countless brands are offering the matching athletic-inspired get-up in refined fabrications and new colors. But despite the makeover, the design hasn’t changed much: its still a lightweight zip-up jacket with hand pockets paired with comfortable drawstring pants in the same color fabric (contrasting stripes on the sleeves and pant legs are standard). If you want to infuse some sporty-casual vibes into your wardrobe this spring, consider these tracksuit remakes.

Todd Snyder and Champion

Made in Portugal with Japanese fabric, this tracksuit features a white nylon coil zipper and raglan sleeves. It’s currently discounted, so act fast for a good deal.

This raglan-sleeve jacket has a two-way zipper, a funnel neck and grosgrain stripes. The pants have stitched creases and front slash pockets.

Cut from black tech-jersey, this tracksuit opts for understated yellow piping as opposed to classic contrasting stripes. The jacket has a one-way zipper and zipped pockets and the pants feature a comfortable low-crotch cut.

Made in Japan, this tracksuit is cut from black and white satin-jersey fabric. The contrasting white stripes are much larger than traditional designs and the pants have a stitched crease and ankle zippers.

This Japanese tracksuit stands apart from others with its rich shade of purple. The jacket has a two-way zipper and the pants have a straight-leg fit and a front creases.

Dries Van Noten

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten opts for a cool black and blue colorway for this tracksuit. The jacket is cut from a mid-weight cotton while the pants are made from loopback cotton-jersey — you get the best of both worlds.
