Wardrobe essentials powerhouse Everlane just started it’s own sneaker brand — Tread by Everlane — and announced its first sneaker called the Trainer. The stylish unisex silhouette comes in seven tonal colorways and costs just $98.

Everlane’s sustainable vision and transparent manufacturing are tangible in this new shoe. The design uses a sole made with natural rubber and post-industrial recycled rubber (it utilizes just under six percent virgin plastic). For durability, the upper is made from leather supplied by Saigon TanTec, a company that uses 42 percent less electricity and 56 percent less fresh water than other industry-leading companies. Other plastic components — polyester laces, foam insoles, linings — are also all made from recycled plastic. And another plus: Tread by Everlane is offsetting all of its carbon emission from sneaker production.

So if you’re looking for a new sneaker to wear this summer and want something with a little more thought behind it, these are well worth a look.
