One of the most accurate trackers we tested in 2018 just launched its newest version, Whoop 3.0. The device is approved for use in the MLB, NFL and even Navy Seals use it. We were impressed with Whoop’s stats — from tracking workouts to sleep, the small device is accurate and gives you suggestions about what to do with that data, which is the main differentiator. Updates for version 3.0 include a longer battery life (from three to five days) and an update to the feedback you get during a workout. Now you can open the app and view your ‘strain’ levels (how hard your body thinks you’re working) and get a recommendation from Whoop if you can push that weight a few more times, or if it’s time to scale back. Grab a strap in one of three new band colors (grey, blue, black); it comes free with your Whoop membership (from $30 a month).

Suunto Spartan Ultra HR ($330)
