Affordable eyewear brand Warby Parker teamed up with Los Angeles artist Geoff McFetridge to produce two of its best sunglasses yet. Both oversized styles are based on vintage frames owned by McFetridge: The Edgemont — named after his hometown in Canada — has round lenses, a keyhole bridge and a thick acetate frame, and the Atwater — named after the L.A. neighborhood where he works — features rectangular lenses and a sculpted acetate frame.
“These sunglasses reflect some of the frames I have owned and worn over the years — specifically, a pair bought in a vintage store in Paris and a pair of USA military issue,” McFetridge said in a statement. “The idea for me was to create something super wearable, with subtle details that made it feel extra special. In the end, we designed two frames I’d want to wear every day.” Both frames have double-rivet details and come in two colors each. What’s more, three of those colors — Rosemary Crystal, Cacao Crystal and Peppercorn Tortoise — are new for the brand.
Each pair of sunglasses costs just $95 ($175+ with prescription lenses) and comes with a limited-edition frame case and lens cloth showcasing McFetridge’s work. And to commemorate the collaboration, Warby Parker is also making a donation to urban design non-profit LA-Más, an L.A. group that helps strengthen underserved communities through policy and architecture.
