The More Useful Yamazaki

Want Affordable Home Goods Not from Ikea? Try This Unknown Japanese Brand

Japan’s lesser-known Yamazaki is far less expensive and far more, well, useful than the world-famous whisky. In operation for more than 100 years, Yamazaki beat Marie Kondo to the tidying-up punch by a century. The company’s housewares are unobtrusive, sturdy and simple. They’re also incredibly affordable.

Its nifty rolling storage cart ($100) is slim and made of steel and real wood — not particle board and plastic screws. Its all-steel wall hanger ($80) is heavy enough to stay put when you hang a dozen coats over it. They even made a trashcan ($50) that does its job and doesn’t look goofy.

These pieces and more of Yamazaki’s thrifty organization gear are marked down 15 percent off on Huckberry today.
