Nike’s success in the running shoe business is undeniable – direct your eyes at the feet of the lead pack of any major marathon for proof. The company’s line of outdoor footwear, called ACG, flies under the radar, though. Nike has quietly bolstered its ACG offering in recent years with styles like a hiking boot that sold out almost instantly and a trail shoe that used its top-line running shoe foam, React. The latest addition to the line is a winter boot called Terra Antarktik.

In the white colorway, the ACG Terra Antarktik looks more like a shoe from a moon base than anything you’d shovel snow in. It doesn’t play any of the visual cards that a pair of Sorels might either – there are no fleece-lined cuffs or leather to see here. Instead, the boot uses a Velcro cuff that designers borrowed from winter jackets and a top-to-toe lacing system we typically see on approach shoes. The upper contains a flexible Gore-Tex membrane, though, so regardless of what these boots look like, they’re sure to keep your feet dry.
