Three Hardcore Seiko Dive Watches Just Got the All-Black Treatment
Take a badass Seiko dive watch, coat it totally in black, and what have you got? A doubly badass Seiko dive watch. Now, multiply that by three. Seiko is expanding upon its Prospex Black Series by bringing in a trio of dive watches from its existing catalog, each a limited edition that looks pretty darn serious in its new blacked-out guise.
Among the three, Seiko is pushing the Black Series version of its higher-end SLA035J1 (more or less like the Marinemaster), which is water-resistant to 300m and features the premium 8L35 automatic movement. The other two watches are the automatic (6R35 movement) “Sumo” SPB125J1 and a Solar Chronograph SSC761J1, each water resistant to 200m and featuring vintage-inspired lume. All three have sapphire crystal and stainless steel cases, with Seiko’s “black hard coating” and red highlights on the dials that the brand says are made for visibility underwater.
Available from February this year, the top-of-the-line SLA035J1 (limited to 600) will have a price of around $2,725, while the SPB125J1 Sumo (limited to 7,000) will be about $815 and the Solar Chrono SBDL065 (limited to 3,500) will be $690.
