Welcome to a new year and a new decade. As with every year, we’re starting 2020 with a list of resolutions. Not ours, yours. For instance, if you vowed to join the crowds ditching regular fitness centers for rock climbing gyms, we’ll help you find the right climbing shoes. Or if you’re just now deciding to take winter seriously, here’s a list of the best down jackets you can buy. Our resolution? To keep you updated on all the knives and EDC items that come out every month through this column.

Recently, WESN announced its first slip joint, Helle launched its first EDC blade, CRKT updated its most innovative knife and more.

WESN Henry

WESN’s third knife is a slip joint – a common type of pocket knife that uses a spring instead of a lock to keep the blade open or closed. And it’s a pretty one at that; the Henry combines titanium handle scales with cherry wood and a Sandvik 14C28N steel blade.

Helle Kletten

With a 2.1-inch drop-point blade, the Kletten is the first true EDC pocket knife for Helle, a brand nearly 90 years old. And while the Norwegian knifemaker is entering a realm distant from the bushcrafting fixed blades it’s known for, the Kletten stays true to form with Helle’s signature triple-laminated steel blade and a handle made of curly birch.

CRKT Provoke Imperial White

Designed by Joe Caswell, the Provoke is perhaps the most innovative knife to come out in 2019. Recently, CRKT gave it a Stormtrooper-inspired paint job called Imperial White, in homage to the new Star Wars movie. To create a quality finish, CRKT used the brightest white ceramic coating it could find. It’s abrasion-resistant, impressively hard and doesn’t add to the knife’s overall weight.

The James Brand x Aether EDC Kit

The pocket knife masters at The James Brand teamed up with the carry specialists at Aether to make a small, all-in-one everyday carry kit. Housed in a weatherproof case that has an internal zippered pocket and other storage features are a Moleskine notebook and limited-edition versions of The James Brand’s Benton pen and Ellis knife.
