New from Luminox
Bear Grylls Would Totally Rely on These Watches for Wilderness Survival
The world of collabs, partnerships, and brand ambassadors doesn’t always feel natural, but the newly established relationship between Swiss watchmaker Luminox and celebrity adventurer Bear Grylls seems to make a lot of sense. Luminox focuses on military and rugged outdoor watches, and Grylls claims he’s worn Luminox watches since long before having any official affiliation with the brand. Announcing the partnership, Luminox has also released a batch of new Bear Grylls watches that seem appropriately like survival equipment.
Six references in total make up the new releases, with three models each available in two variations. They all share features common to most Luminox watches that are designed for practical, rugged outdoor use, including accurate and robust quartz movements as well as tritium illumination on the dials. All the new watches also have a carbon composite case material called Carbonox which, like other carbon watch cases, is extremely durable and lightweight.
The watches differ in some features, functions, and details, and fall into the brand’s Sea, Land, and (no, not Sky) Master series, respectively. The three-hand dive watch in the Sea series is 42mm wide, while the other two models are both 45mm-wide chronographs. Each model comes with a couple of strap options, including rubber and paracord, and the Land and Master watches also include a compass that attaches to the strap.
The brand says that Grylls himself even “helped design and develop” the new watches, and they include Bear Grylls branding on the case backs, including his “never give up” slogan. The range starts at $445 for the Sea series dive watches and goes up to $890 for the Master series chronographs with premium features like sapphire crystal. They’re available for preorder from the brand now.
