Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 are canceled but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.
If you feel inundated with G-Shocks, well — we get it. We write about them a lot, but with good reason: G-Shocks are awesome. They’re affordable, they’re feature-laden, and they’re damn near impossible to destroy. (Trust us — we’ve tried.)
And we’re happy to report that the newest G-Shock looks to be no different. Dubbed the GBD-H1000, it’s packed with useful features to accompany you through your workouts, including GPS functionality with 14-hour battery life; a year-long battery in time-only mode; an optical sensor for measuring heart rate; training functions and analysis for measuring speed and distance; step count measurement and notifications; a built-in miniature sensor to measure compass bearing, altitude, barometric pressure, and temperature; Bluetooth connectivity; solar and USB charging; and much more.
Available in four colors, each of which ships with a dedicated charging cable, the GBD-H1000 should provide a serious, shockproof alternative to your Apple Watch if you like to closely monitor and analyze your fitness regimen. No pricing is available yet, but the watches should be available in Japan beginning this April.
