POLL: What Do You Want To See More Of On GP?

gp-poll1At Gear Patrol, we work hard to dig through all the useless drivel out there available to men. By my estimation, only a small percentage of what’s sent to us is actually spoken about on GP. We’re a craptastic filter, if you will.

You probably recognize that a lot of other men’s sites just rehash the same products over and over again, which is fine and good, but that’s not our thing (if you just saw it on Gizmodo, why do you need to see it ten more times?). We do our best to help you discover a variety of cool, interesting, and useful products (yes, sometimes fantastical), services, or knowledge pertinent to your life as an evolving man.

That said, we want to know what you want to see more of on Gear Patrol. Make sure and take 1.5 seconds to answer our new poll in the right column. Seriously.

How about a mobile version of your site? Would make it easier to read the iPhone on my lunch break.

    • Ben Bowers says:

      Hi Mark,

A mobile verison is definitely part of our plan moving forward. One thing I can reccomend until that happens though is getting a gearpatrol desktop app for your iphone (if you so desire).

Once you’ve loaded GP in safari on your iphone, click the + sign on the bottom of the browser and then add to home screen. Then you should see the GP cog appear on your home screen as an icon, and clicking it will load the page directly from then on.

      Hope that helps.

      Cheers,

      Ben

    Frank,

I like your thinking. What sort of travel would you be interested in? High end? Adventure? Domestic? International? I know I personally like reading about travel in some the men’s magazines I get, but when all they cover is $700 a night places it can be demoralizing. I am thinking a balance of all. But we want to know our readers preferences to use as a jumping off point. Let me know what you think. Any one else who wants to add your thoughts, fire away.

Thanks for the opportunity to give feedback! I’d love to see more on men’s affordable fashion: suits, jackets, shoes, etc.

  • Ed says:

I definetly agree with Frank on travel…for many reasons.
People are stressed and need a vacation and now is the perfect time to do it.
Southwest has started a huge marketing agenda with the $49-$99 flights that has got other regional airlines slashing their rates as well. I got a flight to Seattle in March for $60 one way from LAX.
On top of this, gas is still relatively cheap and there are great deals to be found out there.

I like the idea of featuring more about traveling. Maybe a good article about Vegas? I know it’s the lowest on the poll but I am a big gear head and would love to see more about cars/bikes/boats. Not just the cars etc. but stuff you can’t get for them, maybe. Just my 2 cents.

  • RICK says:

Keep it coming- fellas! Without waxing goofy about it, I have purchased things I have only seen on Gear Patrol (take note adverts). I have purchased Bonobos (love ‘em) I am wearing a Qlink bracelet as I type this (it may or may not work, but it looks great, and it is comfortable). OH, and I just got in a shipment of Bacon Salt. I look at the site as a group of pals who don’t give bum advice. If it looks good, and it is highly recommended - I just might give it a whirl.

With this in mind - how about a “spotlight on”…. a fun locale to travel to- then recommend gear you would take to make the most out of that trip. -gear bags, compact cameras, toiletries, packable travel gadgets, fashion from beach to ballroom etc. BTW - This popped into my head because I leave in 2 days for a cruise to Mexico….If you hunt down the right price, it is cheaper than a 10 day stay in most hotels for the room only!

    Thank you!!

    Rick

      Rick,
Thanks for the specific feedback. It’s great to know that you’ve found some products that we highlight as worthy as we do. Our crew is very diverse and, as such, we like to think that if one of us is captivated by or interested in something, it’s a good bet that someone out there will feel the same way.
As for good getaways, stayed tuned for a feature along those lines in the next few days.

We’ve received a lot of responses to our What Do You Want To See More Of On Gear Patrol Poll. Keep them coming guys. This feedback is valuable to helping us get you guys more of the gear/stuff/services you want to know about.

Oh, and help us spread the word about GP. Tell you comrades and corhorts about us. We’re all about word of mouth here, not stupid marketing gimmicks.
