Rocky Roads Custom Vintage Ford Broncos
Nothing Says Summer Like A Restored Vintage Ride

There’s no shame in owning a functional, economic commuter whip like the venerable Honda Civic… no shame that is, for the weekdays. Come the weekend, though, you’re in your favorite pair of well-worn jeans, a t-shirt, and ready to hop into said Civic for a weekend drive. Hmm, that doesn’t really work quite as well now, does it?
As a right of passage, every man should have to participate in the painstaking process of procuring and restoring a vehicle. Granted, not all of us are privy to the funds or time to do so, but there’s nothing wrong with the sentiment. Take this 1975 Rocky Roads Restored Ford Bronco, for example. There’s probably few men reading this looking at this Bronco and thinking they wouldn’t mind a few summer days behind the wheel of this rugged beauty.
The first generation Ford Bronco (1966-1977) was a vehicle of legends, a direct competitor to the Jeep CJ and International Scout, both fine 4×4’s themselves. They were all created in a day when the term SUV was not synonymous with offensively driving soccer mom’s and dismal fuel efficiency. You know, a day when they were called 4×4’s.
Rocky Roads Custom Vintage Broncos has restored this 1975 Bronco with a rebuilt 302 V8 engine (< 200 miles), Flowmaster exhaust, Optima battery, C-4 Transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, 4-wheel disc brakes, Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks, 3.5" suspension lift, 33" BFGoodrich Mud Terrain Tires, dual gas tanks, Warn winch, Dana 44 front axles, and an excruciatingly long list of other features and details.
Notably, Rocky Roads has also restored the Bronco's beautiful white finish interior, installed a massive sound system with iPod connection, secured it with a Viper alarm system, and put the entire vehicle through an $8000, two-stage, dark blue paint job. This is one undeniably gorgeous restoration.
There's nary another word to say save for conjured thoughts of loading up Van Morrison on the iPod and hitting the road... right now.
Cost: $37,500

That brings tears to a glass eye…I once owned a 1967 model, and she was sea-foam green.
Awesome, classic rigs! Great write-up, Eric.

My first car was a '74 F100 with that same engine. Mine had a few more miles on it, though, as well as a coat of primer instead of paint, none of those niceties like AC or a radio or window cranks, and it had a tendency to overheat.
Still, it was a hell of a truck and that little V8 had some balls. So I'm calling dibs on this one. Sorry, folks, but it's mine.
My father owned an early 70's Blazer, factory full convertible top, that had been used as a bush fire truck — even had the siren.
On a summer day there is nothing quite like cruising the beach in a classic 4×4. Too much fun.
I owned a 71, and I'm currently looking for 72. I wish you guys and mens health and men's journal and GQ for that matter would quit pointing out how bad ass these vehicles are, before you know it I won't be able to get one at a good price like I did in the 90's.
Drooling…
i've always liked these things. they are great looking rigs and i would definitely consider one as worthy replacement of my Jeep. well maybe. i love my Jeep. haha
Yea….I can see myself in this truck crusing down PCH.
I saw John Mayer with one and also I believe this car was in the movie Role Models?
Nice write up. These early Broncos are certainly hot right now. It's hard to find the deals like Tc H mentions, but they are still out there if you search long enough. And Rocky Roads certainly builds some high price machines. Just don't forget there's bought vs. built and if you don't turn a single wrench on it I'd argue that you might as well be driving the Civic.
nice post.. i've always wanted to have things like that.. i would definitely considered that as one of my favorite ford truck.. nice pic! if i have money why not..
The Bronco concept brings more to modern technologies to an original theme for a new and fresh approach.. Its very classic, familiar, always in style and very comfortable..
