27-Inch Apple LED Cinema Display

Three More Inches of Apple

After releasing the 27-inch iMac in the fall of 2009, it was only a matter of time until a 27-inch Apple LED Cinema Display ($999) made its way to Apple’s shelves. Now we’ve been given an official date of September for the IPS (In-plane switching) display, that features a massive 2560×1440 resolution, and a true 16:9 aspect ratio. Since Apple’s hoping you’ll casually pick it up while you’re already spending a couple of grand on a new MacBook Pro, it also features a built-in iSight Camera, three powered USB ports, and the single connection that divides into USB, Mini DisplayPort, and a MagSafe power adapter to power your MacBook (Pro). If 27 inches seems like overkill, the upside is a $100 price drop on the 24-inch Cinema Display ($799). Whether you’re up for paying the “Apple Tax” for either of these displays is another story (nod to Dell), but they’re certainly stunners.
