New & Noteworthy Releases

Zero Halliburton 20-Inch International Carry-On in Camo
Zero Halliburton, one of the early pioneers of aluminum hard-side luggage a la Rimowa, released its lightweight polycarbonate carry-on in a limited-edition camo color-way. It features a removable mesh divider and weighs just five pounds. — Jack Seemer

LG SK10Y Soundbar
LG and Meridian Audio announced a partnership at the tail end of 2017, and the first product to come to fruition is the LG SK10Y soundbar. It uses Meridian’s Bass and Space technology to create a more immersive listening experience from any seat in the room. (It’s similar to the 180-degree sound technology that’s in the Q Acoustics M2 Soundbase). It’s compatible with Dolby Atmos and has Google Chromecast built in, so you can give it “OK Google” commands or partner it with your Google Home. The soundbar also comes with a wireless subwoofer. The release date and price of the SK10Y have yet to be announced. — Tucker Bowe

180mph, 2700 Hp 2015 MTI Racing Boat
Note that despite being listed as a ‘racing boat,’ the 2015 MTI straddles the line of luxury as well. An Italian leather and Alcantara interior, suspension seats, a 40,000-watt interior and exterior stereo, five video entertainment monitors and a Garmin 8200 Series navigation system will accompany you on your way to the boat’s 180 mph top speed with a little help from the two 1350hp QC4V Mercury Racing engines. The superlative speed boat goes up for sale at the Barret Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona January 113-21. — Bryan Campbell

Quiksilver x Pacsafe Travel Bags
Even if you don’t go bungee jumping or attempt to scale an impossibly-tall mountain, global travel isn’t without its perils. Theft is a big one; it’s prevalent in every locale, and travelers make conspicuous targets. Pacsafe’s solution is a collection of travel bags equipped with built-in security features like locking zippers and knife-proof mesh. Its latest collaboration with boardsports brand Quiksilver yields a carry-on size travel pack with a removable dry bag and a smaller everyday rucksack with all the organizing essentials for life at home and abroad. — Tanner Bowden

For 25% Off, Upgrade Your EDC with a Mechanical Pencil That’s Built Like a Tank
As much as I’d like to mix metaphors and puns with phrases like “get the lead out” and “full metal jacket,” this pencil speaks for itself: a thoroughly over-built mechanical writing implement that will likely outlast whatever life-ending apocalypse finally destroys humankind. Our robot overlords will be drawing razor-sharp graphite lines and jotting notes well into the next epoch. Meantime, allow yourself a little new year splurge and enjoy showing off your new old-school tool.

The knurled grip, “brass mechanism for precision lead advancement” and “fixed lead guidance sleeve” are enough to warrant this pencil’s premium, but it’s the two-year limited warranty that really speaks to its quality. When’s the last time you sent in your pencil for service? Besides, we covered this guy’s legit little brother in our roundup of Best Mechanical Pencils a few years back.

Start the Year with 23% off a Premium King Size Foam Mattress
Here’s an understatement: there are a lot of comes-in-a-box foam mattresses. Ever since Casper upended the mattress industry a la Warby Parker, internet bed companies have been sprouting up almost on a monthly basis. Included in the crowd is Leesa, whose foam mattress adapts to different body shapes and sleep styles (and it comes with that handy 100 day trial period). It’s the top-rated foam mattress by the reviewers at the Wirecutter, and it also gets this writer’s seal of approval — I’ve been sleeping on a Leesa for the past month.

Right now, on Amazon, those looking to upgrade their sleep experience can pick up a king size Leesa mattress for over $200 off, which makes it cheaper than buying the queen size.
